Kabalevsky was born in Saint Petersburg in 1904, later the family moved to Moscow, His father was a mathematician and wanted his son
to follow in his footsteps but he showed at a early age a love for the arts and music. Against the wishes of his father,  he went to study at
the academy of Music in Moscow and graduated in 1922. At the age of 21 Kabalevsky joined Production Collective of Student Composers,
was a group of students linked to Moscow Conservatory, by the time he was 26 he had composed piano concerto,  various children songs
and other piano works.

Kabalevsky by the 1930's  composed pieces for new media of films,  as did other famous composers  like Prokofiev and Shostakovich but,
what he most well known for in Russia,  was bringing his love of music to the children,  at this time there was a nearly a complete lack of
material's for the children to learn about music, he began to write various easy pieces for children to learn and play.

Kabalevsky nearly always compose his pieces to the ideas of socialist realism,  which cause some people to think of his  later works were
popular but bland but he was better known for his youth works from 1950s to 1960s. He received many awards and state honours for his
composition's. He bacame in 1962 Commission of Musical Aesthetic Education of Children. He Died in 1987 in Moscow.
