CHARLES LE THIERE

1859 --- 1929

Charles Le Thiere is a little known British composer, arranger, who was famous for composing for his favourite instrument the Piccolo
but he also composed for the Flute and Piano, and composed and created arrangments for orchestra and Brass Bands whcih you could
still get sheet music for. He is supposed to have been born in Clerkenwell,  which was an ancient parish in London from the mediaeval
period onwards,  now forms  the south-western part  of the London Borough of Islington,  he was the son of  a goldsmith and jeweller
Thomas William Tomkins

.

Charles Le Thiere as stated above was a brillant piccolo player, but he also played the flute, but was not very good at it. he never had
a permanent position as a musician in any bands or Orchestra. Le Thiere had started to a have drink problems around the late 1880's
or 1890's and would compose and arranged music so he could afford to feed his drinking habit.   Le Thiere had composed some of his
more popular pieces Danse de Satyrs(1883),  Silver birds(1887) and Polka de la Reine(1913), which were arrange for the piccolo and
Orchestra and Bands.  Le Thiere also composed some pieces for the piano and Orchestra,   Village Life in the Olden Times  that he did
and proformed by John Held in the United States in 1890 with his orchestra. Le Thiere arranged The Punjaub March by Charles Payne
for orchestra and wind band.

Le Thiere fell  on hard times in later  life and is assumed to  have died in a workhouse  at the age of 70,  in north west of England.  Le
Thiere Composed and arranged music for orchestra, Bands, Chamber Music, Piano works,  etc. Sad end to someone who maybe could
have produce more great music had he not fallen into drinking himself to death.
