Cadman was a American musical composer, he was born at Johnstown, on Dec 24th 1881. He used American Indian material in his music. His song From
the Land of the Sky Blue Water, had became a classic of American song literture in many countries. Among his Opera's are Shanwis, (The Robin Women),
produced at the Metropolitan Opera House on March 23rd 1918, and repeated in 1919.

The Shanwis, was the first American opera to live beyond a season, The Garden of Mystery, was produced in New York March 18th 1925, and A Witch of
Salem, produced by the Chicago Opera Company, Produced 8th December 1926. Other compositions include a cantata, The Vision of Sir Lounfal, a Piano
sonata, a trio and many songs. He died on December 30th 1946.
