THEODOR OESTEN

31thDecember 1813 --- 16thMarch 1870

As normal I could only find a little information on this composer.

Theodor Oesten was Born in Berlin in 1813 and was a German piano teacher and composer. Oesten over his career had composed
numerous successful songs and melodies and was best known for his easy to play piano compositions.  As a child, Oesten learned
to play  various wind,  string instruments  and Piano at the Stadtmusikus in Fürstenwalde Germany.  It was around  1832 that he
went to Berlin and began to study composition under Bohmer, Carl Friedrich Rungenhagen, and August Wilhelm Bach.

After graduating, he went to  work in the Berlin and soon became a sought after piano teacher. In 1843 he composed the Rondo
Les premières  violettes,  which he arranged in the  style of music which was in vogue in the 1840's to 60's  and suited the public
sentimental tastes in music,  which Oesten developed with enormous success. As a result, he composed more pieces in the same
style, thanks to those simple arrangements he was the favourite with audience for many years. He died 1870 in Berlin.

You can still find and download  sheet music of some of his works from the internet today,  eg, Dolly's Dreaming and Awakening
Maibluemchen, Opus.61 and Sunset on the Alps, Opus.193 are just some examples you can download.
