PER LASSON

18thApril 1859 --- 6thJune 1883

I could only find a little information on this composer.

Per Lasson, was born 1859 in Norway,  Lasson studied harmony with Johan Svendsen.  He had actually planned a legal career, but
his  interest in  music and  composing took up more  and more of his time.  He started  suffering pain's in his mouth  and went to a
doctor who diagnosed cancer of the palate in the summer of 1882, he had operation's in both in Norway and in Germany, but died
the following year age only 24 years old.

Despite his young years,  Lassons had published several works. His compostions is hardly extensive,  but he did composed around
15 songs and 9 piano pieces, which included a popular piece named Crescendo (A small piece I have sequenced below) in addition
to an overture for orchestra. The compositions show great talent and a very good grip on the craft.  His musical world is falvoured
by German romance with Schumann and Brahms, plus later Wagner, as distinctive ideals.

Lasson was the brother of Oda Krohg and Bokken Lasson, and nephew of Bredo Lasson with whom he had studied piano.

You can still find and download sheet music of some of his works from the internet today.
