SIR ARNOLD EDWARD TREVOR BAX

8thNovember 1883 --- 3rdOctober 1953

Arnold  Bax was  born in London on 8th  of November 1883, his classical education was at the Royal Academy of
Music under Frederick Corder for composition, he also studied under Tobias Matthay for the Piano.

He had a exceptional capability in composition as a student and had a tendency for a excessive elobration which
distinguished his earliest creative works.

The wealth and distinction  of his ideas and of his  handling of his  composition never  left any doubt of his place
among the most  interesting and important of the 20th century British Composers.  His music was characteristic
in he  attractive  romantic and mystical feeling  throughout most  of his works. He had  a very strong affinity for
Irish folklore and legend's well as other aspects of Celtic spirit.

Bax's  encompassed many branches of composition except for Opera, some of Bax's most notable works include
"The  Garden  of  Fand" 1916, "November  Woods" in  1917 and his famous "Tintagel" alsocomposed in 1917, he
also composed various Chamber works, violin sonatas, Piano quintet.

He did a  beautiful carol "Mater  ora Fullum" for double  choir as well  as some wonderful  Ballets and numerous
Piano works, songs and several symphonies.

Arnold Bax was knighted in 1937.
