HENRYK WIENIAWSKI

Henryk Wieniawski was born in Lublin, in present-day Poland in 1835,  he was recognize  from a early age his talent  for playing the volin, he
was taken to the  Paris Conservatoire in 1843,  he was only 8 years old and not French,  he showed such skill playing the  violin that a special
exception was made in his case, he was there for about 3 years, but came back in 1849 to do another year.

Once Wieniawski had graduated, he began touring extensively at which he gave many recitals were his brother Jozef would often ccompanied
him on the piano,  while in his teens he published his first opus,  Grand Caprice Fantastique.  It was while he was on one of these tours he met
Isabella Hampton,  who he wanted  to marry, but  faced strong opposition from her parents,  so he composed his Legende,  Opus.17, when the
parents heard this, they gave him permission, they were married in 1860.

He then went to live in St. Petersburg,  after receiving a  invitation from Anton Rubinstein,  he begam to teach violin students,  which led to the
formation Russian Musical Society's orchestra and string quartet,  then in 1872 he went on tour with Anton Rubinstein for 2 years in the United
States.

After his tour of the United States he took up residence in Brussels  from 1875 but unfortunately his health began  to declined to such a extent
that he would have  to stop half way  through his concerts  because of his lack of  stamina and on his  tour to Russia he collapse at a concert in
February 1880 and was taken to hospital, and shortly after in March 1880 died of a heart attack.
