THEODOR MICHAELIS

15th March 1831 --- 17th November 1887

The only information I have on this composer, is a letter he sent to Joseph Bennett  to praise him on his new work a fantasie on his
opera The Lily of Killarney. Theodor also sent his best wishes on the hope that the  piece would be accepted by the Opera Comique.

The music that I  have sequenced below  was composed in the 1870's,  ( the piece is  based on a  villager watching a  turkish patrol
approaching from the west and passing by him in the village and then marching off into the distant) and was later revived and used
from what I could find out in the first world war by military bands from Australia,  although I could be mistaken,  you can still listen
to mp3's and download sheet music of this piece online,    and others if you so wish.  I did find out that  Theodor composed another
piece Die Schmiede im Walde, Opus.126. Theodor produced around 180 works although not many are available now and many have
been lost to time.
