FELIX GERALD SWINSTEAD

25thJune 1880 --- 15thAugust 1959

Felix G Swinstead was born in London in 1880,  were later he  went to study the  piano Royal Academy of music under Tobias Matthay
and later composition under Frederick Corder.  He played many recitals in London upto the early 1900's as well as travelling overseas.
By the time he was 30 he had been offered the position  of professor of music  at the Royal Academy in 1910,  and he was to hold this
position until the end of his life.

He also travelled widely around the world as a professor and did tours North America, Australia etc, Felix also wrote a book's on piano
technique's for younger piano players and many of his 200 piano works which were suitable for young performers.

Felix in 2nd  world war was the  organist at  St Matthew's Church  in Bayswater,  were he composed his  well known Te Deum for  the
church choir, some of his better known pieces were for example What can the Matter be.  Felix Swinstead was married and had three
children, he died in 1959.
