FREDERICK ROSSE

1867 --- 20th June 1940

For a fuller Bio on Frederick Rosse please visit This website. Below is just a brief Bio.

Frederick Rosse was born in Jersey, later he moved to England to studied at Harrow. I not sure why he went to study music in Germany
but he entered the Conservatoire in Leipzig,  and shared accommodation with Frederick Delius,  were a few years later went to Dresden
and Brussels.

Rosse began to compose around 1895,  he mainly wrote suites for incidental music  for various plays as well as  light operetta's, he also
wrote orchestral suites,  he produced the  The Merchant of Venice   in 1905 for the Garrick Theatre.   Rosse in 1920 became  the musical
director of the Woldorf Theatre.

Rosse while at the theatre met his wife Edith Marion who was with a touring company then performing at the theatre. After the marriage
they went to live in Staines, sadly in 1923 Rosse and Edith separated, Edith died in 1932 under suspicious circumstances. Rosse moved to
Brighton and died there in 1940.
