Briefly, I was born in 1930 in New York City. My interest in classical music dates from the age of 9 when I came across a collection
of 78 rpm records and an old windup victrola.

I was hooked on Tchaikovsky's Marche Slav and Stokie's arrangement of the second Hungarian Rhapsody. I began collecting on my
own in my early teens  and started piano  lessons at age 14.  Despite the late  start my passion led me to obtain an M.A.  in music at
Berkeley.  I taught H.S. band and  orchestra for two years,  but gravitated into teaching  mathematics at a community college after
I had receiving my masters in that field. Since retiring in 1990, I've returned to the challenge of composing, concentrating on short
chamber works and songs.  I've been using MusicTime  software for  composition and Voyetra's  Turtle Beach Montego II Quadzilla
for sound  development.  My style is basically tonal with a  bent toward contrapuntal voicing.  The works I have  included here date
from 1998 to the present. (2002 Steven)
