(Born - 1956)
Michael has sent me one of his fine classical style compositions, I hope he will send more of his work in, as and when it is completed.
Skevos Michael David Alachouzos (but everyone calls me Michael).
Born 10 May 1956 in London, but presently resident in Johannesburg (South Africa) whilst completing my doctoral dissertation in legal philosophy (partly about Africa) for Oxford University.
My principal passions are for philosophy and music. I love listening to any good music, and easily get "carried away". Favourite composer: varies according to mood, but currently Shostakovich. Also Rachmaninov. And Saint-Saens. And, very often, just the last good piece which I happened to hear!
I came to musical composition quite late in life, having always composed "in my head" but been put off by my lack of formal education in musical theory etc. and by my inability to play any musical instrument. With the advent of music-notation programmes for PC, I found it progressively easy to teach myself. I subsequently started studying more advanced compositional techniques under the tuition of my friend Carl Van Wyk (a professor of composition in Johannesburg).
I still cannot play any instrument very well - though I do sometimes play the piano (badly). Maybe, with enough practice, I might one day become good enough to play a few of my own compositions (or the easier ones, at any rate)!
And now for the Music
