SIR MALCOLM ARNOLD

21st October 1921 --- 23rdSeptember 2006

Sir Malcolm Arnold was born in 1921 and was famous for film scores like Bridge on the River Kwai, as well as some popular pieces
of English concert  works from  the 20th  Century,  like Peterloo  Overture  and Little  Suites  but  unfortunately  he  suffered  from
bouts of alcoholism and insanity.

Most of the burden on his care fell to his daughter Katherine who now works as a psychotherapist, she has been able to managed
over the years to keeping alive the better parts of her father's music and memory.

There is still  a great part  of Arnolld  early work from his  lesser-known pieces  from the 1940s/50s that are no  longer performed
which maybe in the furture can be brought back to  the listening public attension,  but Arnold still remains one of  the truly tragic
figures of British classical music scene
