GEORGE GERSHWIN

26thSeptember 1898 --- 11thJuly 1937

George Gershwin a American composerwas born in Brooklyn, New York city, on September 26th 1898, and was prominently
identified  with  bringing  classical  style of  music with a  Jazz learning.  George went  through a few piano  teachers  over a
couple of years, before being introduced to Charles Hambitzer by Jack Miller.

One of Gershwin first  job was as a "song plugger".  His first big hit was in 1919 when he  wrote a big national  hit "Swanee"
it was not  until 1924  that he composed his  first classical  piece   Rhapsody in Blue,  an elaborate composition  for the piano
and orchestra in the Jazz style,  that first drew to him serious  attention  as a composer.  Gershwin most successful  opera he
composed was a very ambitious piece "Porgy and Bess" which he did in 1935, he called this his "Folk Opera".

Though he had already written the music  for eight musical comedies,  Later compositions are Concerto in F (1925), a suite of
preludes for piano, 1926, he also did various music for film like Shall We Dance, for example in 1936.

Sadly from 1937  Gershwin health began to  decline and his metal  state deteriorated  and it  was not until it was  to late that
doctors found that he had a brain tumor and in July they tried to remove the tumor but were unsuccessful and Gershwin died
a few days late on the July 11, 1937, at the age of 38.
