Ezra was born in Willenhall,  Staffordshire in 1862,  Ezra had three older brothers,  his brother James followed his  father's trade,  Ezra and his
brother Eber  were apprenticed to a blacksmith at an early age.   His father arranged for his brother John  Colley to study the piano,  later John
began to teach Ezra how to play the piano. A few years later both had become accomplished performers of the piano and various other musical
instruments.

Ezra went with his brother in  1886 to studied harmony and composition,  Ezra was a prolific composer of light music,  marches and Waltz's and
produced a great deal of easy  to play pieces plus numerous piano tutorial album's for beginings and intermediate level's. A great number of his
works of salon and light music were published by many leading music publishers in London, Australia and America, and his works would appear
in all sorts of Newspapers and Journals through out Great Britian and the world, he published his works under various pen names and his works
were very popular at the time.

It was during the Boer War,  he wrote many marches, the one I have sequenced is from the 1900's and is named Venice by Night, below.  If you
are interested you can find online sheet music and a more in depth bio on this composer.

Ezra wife died in 1912, Ezra moved from place to place and finally settled in Shirebrook, Derbyshire. He became seriously ill, which turned out to
be cancer in 1921 and he died the year later in 1922.
