EUGEN FRANCIS CHARLES D'ALBERT

10th April 1864 --- 3rd March 1932

D'Albert was a Scottish born Composer and pianist, born in Glasgow in 1864, was the son of Charkes Louis Napoleon D'Albert whose dance
music enjoyed great popularity in its day. D'Albert studied at the National Training school, London which later became the Royal College of
Music, eventually winning the Mendelssohn scholar-ship and going to Vienna to continue his studies

He succeeded Joachim as director of the Hochschule in Berlin in 1907. As a pianist D'Albert excelled in the interpetation of Beethoven,  as a
composer he composed chiefly Opera's, with Tiefland being the best known of his many works in this form, his other works include, 2 piano
concertos, chamber music,  various piano pieces, a cello concerto, a symphony, and two string quartets.  D'Albert died in 1932 at the age of
67 in Riga, Latvia
