Maiella. One of his first compostion titles In alto mare was completed when he was only 13 years old.

He wrote numerous pieces which consisted of Popular songs, various romances, comic operas,  operettas, melodies, duets,  marches as well a
pantomime,  which is a type of ballet without defined choreographic patterns entitled Histoire d'un Pierrot in which Costa wrote the music for
in the 1890's.

Costa went to live in London from 1881 to 1884 in which all the rage at the time was Italian songs. After which Costa returned to Naples, and
became one of the prominent exponent in the revival of the Neapolitan musical tradition.   After the 1920's Costa concentrated on composing
operettas, pantomimes, and ballets.

Costa died in 1933, his body was moved to a tomb provided by Taranto Municipality in 1934
