Clara

CLARA JOSEPHINE SCHUMANN

13thSeptember 1819 --- 20thMay 1896

You can find a lot more information on the internet about Clara, I just put some point's from her career below.

Clara was born in Leipzig, Germany, she was encouraged from a early age by her father, Friedrich Wieck, who was a professional pianist
and teacher, who wanted his daughter to become a great and accomplished concert pianist. He organise Clara first tour at age 11, which
was very successful in Paris and Vienna, and other european cities. In 1837 Clara met the composer Robert Schumann,  her father forbid
Schumann to ever see his daughter again, the couple started a court case to allow them to marry , which the couple won, they were able
to get married in 1840.

Clara Josephine Schumann was a very famous pianist,  composer, but sadly Clara gave up on composing  in around 1855 because of peer
pressure from her huband and Brahms  and other composers who said that women were not  serious composers and should only produce
light  music as they  were incapable of producing  serious music,  this affected Clara so much  that she started to believe  that herself and
cease to compose, this was a loss to the world of music. Clara still did concert tours right upto 1891, and was regarded as one of the most
distinguished pianists of the Romantic era. Her career spaned over nearly 60 years,   Clara repertoire of piano recital's would show off her
virtuosity to programs of serious works.
