CHARLES DUPREE BLAKE

13th September 1847 --- 25th November 1903

Charles Dupree Blake was one a Americia's most popular composer of songs and light music, who was born in Massachusetts,  in 1847. He began
his study of music at a very young age of seven,  and by the age of ten produced his very first composition,  after which his musical progress was
very fast. He had been studying under such composers as J. K. Paine and J. C. D. Parker, as well as other's, and really started to composed pieces
aim at the Mass market which he became very successful to an unusual degree.

He composed in his lifetime around   three thousand pieces, most of which were for the piano,  this also included many popular songs.  but he did
produced  some larger works,  for example the Light-Keeper's Daughter,  libretto was done by  George. M. Vickers,  produced in 1882.  He had his
compositions publish by a contract with White-Smith in Boston, and continued to publish his compositions until 1888, after which Blake began to
publish his own work's himself. He would often publish his own music under a number of different pseudonyms. Some of his  most popular works
include Rock-a-bye Baby and Waves of the Ocean are his best-known songs that are known to this day.  His style of music throughout is a simple
one, and were aim mostly at the skills of most amateur pianists and vocalists.
