19th April 1863 --- 21st January 1931

For a fuller Bio on Feliks Blumenfeld please visit This website. Below is just a brief Bio.

Feliks Blumenfeld was born in the Kovalovka, Ukraine,  then in the Russian Empire, he came from a musical  family and therefore his interest
in classical music developed earlier in his life,  a few years later he was enrolled as a student at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, to study the
piano under Alexander Stein and composition under the famous Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. After he graduated in 1885, he took up teaching at
the St. Petersburg Conservatory.

Feliks Blumenfeld was promoted in 1897 to professor,  which he held until Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov was dismiss in 1905 from his post at the
St. Petersburg Conservatory, Blumenfeld could no longer teach as his Hero had been so badly treated, so he resigned in the same year.

Sadly today very few people have heard of Feliks Blumenfeld, but in his day he was greatly respected within the world of classical music and
was always in great demand as a piano teacher,  conductor and pianist.  You can still today download many pieces  of his piano works on the
internet, and you can still buy his 3rd Symphony online. Blumenfeld composed many pieces for the piano, which you can play his piano music
in midi format below.

In 1922 Blumenfeld moved on to teach at the Moscow Conservatory where he was a professor until his death in 1931.
