RONALD BINGE

15th July 1910 --- 6th September 1979


Born 15th July 1910 in Derby.

Started as cinema oganist, then pianist/piano accordianist. Became arranger to The Mantovani Orchestra and created the cascading strings "the famous Mantovani sound". Had a break for military service, then resumed with Mantovani, eventually resigning to devote more time to composition. Composed, among others, A Scottish Rhapsody, Concerto for Alto saxophone and orchestra, Elizabethan Serenade, The Water Mill and Sailing.

He died on 6th September 1979..
