WILLIAM HENRY BATCHELOR

26thMay 1856 --- 1912

William Henry Batchelor was born on 1856   in Handsworth Staffordshire,  England and I think but I am not sure died in New
York around 1912.  He was a Composer, Arranger, Orchestrator and a Musical Director.  By 1880 he was a professor of music
in Northampton, some years later in 1887 he resigned and went to live with his  family in Newcastle upon Tyne,  but by 1889
he  had become  disillusion  with family  life and  left  his wife  children to  take a role as  the  musical  director of  "American
Extravaganza Company" in the USA. Then wen on to become the conductor of the Chicago orchestra.

He applied for USA  naturalization  in around 1894 and  became a naturalized American in  1896 and it was in the same year
he was appointed conductor  at the reopened Schiller Theatre. he then returned again in 1899 to be  musical director  of the
American Extravaganza Company.

A example  of his musical  output was "Aladdin, Jr a Musical  Extravaganza composed  in 1895 and "An Arabian Girl  and 40
Thieves Musical Comedy composed in 1899  and "Les Banderillas (Bolero)" the piece I  have sequenced below.  This is really
all I can find on this composer.
