FELIX ALEXANDRE GUILMANT

12th March 1837 --- 29th March 1911

Félix-Alexandre  Guilmant was a French  organist and composer.  His interest in music  and in particular the organ was
fostered by his father Jacques-Nicolas Lemmens who was the organist at the church in his home town of Boulogne-sur
-Mer, Guilmant did  play other instruments  but perfered the organ. By the 1860's  he had become organist and teacher
in Boulogne-sur-Mer. He then decided to move to Paris in 1871,  Guilmant was invited to become the organist at the la
Trinité church which he retained for many years he also gave concerts across Europe, even going to the USA.

It was in 1896 that he succeeded Charles-Marie Widor as organist and teacher at the Conservatoire de Paris. Guilmant
published the compositions of numerous classical French composers in ten volumes within this period.

Guilmant spent most of his later years on concert, one of his last tours was to the USA in around 1904, then in 1908 his
wife died,  He wrote his last  composition "Trois Oraisons in 1910. Guildmant died in 1911.  I have only done a brief Bio
