Pablo de Sarasate, a Spanish Violinist, who was born at Pamplona on March 10, 1844. At the age of 12 he began to study under Jean Alard at the Paris
conservatoire. His first public appearance as a concert violinist was in 1860.

He paid the first of his many visits to London, where he enjoyed great popuarity, in 1861, and in the course of his career he visited other parts of Europe
and also both North and South America.

Sarasate was one of first and most fascinating violinist of this period of time, his playing being remarkable equally for purity and sweetness of tone, and
for facility of excecution. He died at Biarritz, France in 1908.
