For a full Bio on Anton Reicha please visit This website. Below is just a brief Bio.

Reicha was born in the same year as beethoven who became a close and life time friend, he also knew Hayden, Mozart as some of the other famous
composers of that time. Reicha had a hard life as a child,  his father died before he was one year old,  and his mother neglected him, so he ran away
from home at the tender age of about 10 years old.  He traveled first to his Grandfather then moved to live with his Uncle Josef Reicha,  a conductor
and composer living Bavaria, his uncle and his wife took him in and treated him as a son, the couple at this time was childless.

He gained his love of music from josef who thaught him the Violin and Piano,  Reicha taught himself to compose, as his uncle was against it for some
reason. He composed his first symphony in 1787, he then went to Bonn in 1879 to studied and performed until the French, who invaded and captured
Bonn forcing Reciha to flee to Hamburg. Reciha wanted to become a Opera composer so he moved to Paris, but was unsuccessful.

Reicha is best known today for his 25 wind quintets, composed in Paris between 1811 and 1820, which were mostly premiered from 1817 onwards.
He also composed Violin sonatas, some Piano Trio's, horn trios, flute quartets and various works for solo wind or string instruments. Much of Reicha
's music remained unpublished because of Reicha aversion to seeking performances of his own works.
