GRAZYNA BACEWICZ

5th February 1909 --- 19th January 1969

Grazyna Bacewicz (1909-1969) was born in 1909 in Lodz and was a Polish composer and violinist, her gift for music was noticed from
when she  just a small child,  she studied violin and piano in her native  town of Lodz and  her brother Vytautas was also  a composer.

Later Grazyna  moved to  Warsaw in the  late 1920's to study at the  Warsaw Conservatory,  where Grazyna received her  diplomas in
violin and composition in 1932.   She later moved  to Paris for a  year to continued  her education  in volin  and composition,  Grazyna
returned back  to Poland and began  to teach  in Lodz,  the Lure  of Paris drew  her back  and she  went to study under  the Hungarian
violinist Carl Flesch.

Grazyna composed mostly for the piano  and Volin until the mid 1930's then she spread out her composing talents to write for sonatas
quartets and later Symphonic works, from the late 1930's Grazyna had by then moved back to Poland and got the position of principal
violinist of the Polish Radio Orchestra, which gave her the chance to hear much of her own music.

In the mid 1950's Grazyna suffered some serious injuries in a car accident and it  was after this that she gave up playing the volin and
dedicated  herself to composition.  It was late in  the 1960's she started to  have some health  problems and  died of a  heart attack in
Warsaw on January 1969.
